Our Plan for DC
I am running on a platform to defend and maximize D.C.’s autonomy, secure federal resources, and build the coalitions we need to advance statehood. For too long, Washingtonians have been treated like second-class citizens, taxed without representation, silenced when it comes to our own laws, and used as a political pawn by members of Congress who do not live here. Our plan is to change that once and for all.
Expand D.C.’s Self-Governance
Washingtonians know what is best for our communities, not Congress. I am committed to strengthening the Home Rule Act and closing the legislative loopholes that allow federal interference in our local affairs. Whether it involves criminal justice reform, reproductive rights, or our city budget, D.C. must have the final say. As your Delegate, I will continue the fight to advance statehood so that our laws, leaders, and lives are no longer subject to the whims of partisan politics. True self-governance means equality and accountability for the people who call this city home. It is long overdue.
Build Allies in Congress
To move D.C. forward, we must build meaningful relationships with allies across the country and across the aisle. I will work to turn those relationships into real results for the District by finding common ground on public safety, economic opportunity, housing, and healthcare. That means partnering with lawmakers who understand that democracy does not stop at the Potomac. I will bring D.C.’s story to the halls of Congress and make sure our issues are not ignored but acted on.
Center Community-Driven Advocacy
Real representation starts with listening. I will ensure that Washingtonians have a voice in every step of the legislative process by prioritizing neighborhood-level briefings, creating community action councils, and keeping open lines of communication between residents and my office. From Ward 1 to Ward 8, I will bring the work of Congress back home, keeping residents informed, engaged, and empowered to shape the policies that affect their daily lives. Government should never be out of reach, and under my leadership, it will not be.
Obtain Federal Resources for Real Results
The District deserves its fair share of federal support, not as charity but as justice. I will fight for federal funding that delivers measurable results for our families and neighborhoods. That means expanding access to healthcare, strengthening public safety through community-based strategies, improving our schools, increasing affordable housing options, supporting small businesses, and lowering costs for working families. When D.C. families succeed, our entire city becomes stronger, safer, and more united.
